Hugo Junkers Hangar

Hugo Junkers Hangar

The Hugo Junkers Hangar is Mönchengladbach’s tribute to its famous son, aviation pioneer Hugo Junkers, and his life’s work, allowing visitors to experience the city’s history first-hand. The Hugo Junkers Hangar covers an area of 1,460 square metres and has four ‘gates’ that can accommodate up to 1,850 people. The venue is complemented by attractive outdoor areas that can be used depending on the size of the concert or event. Whether for corporate or private parties, conferences, receptions, product launches, film productions, or networking events, the venue with the historic “Tante JU” (Aunt Ju) aircraft never fails to impress. The operator, “noi! Event & Catering” is the full-service provider on site and ensures successful and creative events not only through catering, but also through classic air catering and culinary delivery services directly to the offices of MGL.

Support Association

The aim and purpose of the Förderverein Flughafen Mönchengladbach e. V. (Mönchengladbach Airport Support Association) is to promote the regional economic importance of the infrastructure of Mönchengladbach Airport (MGL), to intensify contacts between MGL and local companies and to support the development of the airport. The association was founded in 2000 and has since acted as an ambassador for Mönchengladbach Airport. At the time of its establishment, MGL was primarily known as a regional and business airport, but in recent years it has developed into an innovation hub for new developments in aviation.

In line with the association’s aim to promote this development to the general public and to highlight the economic importance of the airport and its neighbouring businesses, the association initiated the Oldtimer FLY & DRIVE INs. Visitors can not only see historic aircraft up close but also learn about current developments at the airport. The same applies to the Open Day. The regional importance of the airport is undisputed. The numbers speak for themselves: Nearly 800 people work at the airport in various sectors. Especially after the change in the airport’s shareholder structure of the airport and the resulting new innovative developments, it is important to communicate the airport’s importance of the airport for Mönchengladbach as a business location to the citizens and companies located in the city. This is done through the above-mentioned events, participation in trade fairs and discussions, as well as through traditional press work and communication via social media. In this way, the association acts as an ambassador for an important economic factor in our city.
